We knew that Nvidia had some big plans when they announced the acquisitions of PhysX creator Ageia. I honestly thought that this would be one of those things that moved slowly, with no real news for several months at the earliest. However, Nvidia has hit the ground running with this and is already working on making the technology compatible with current GeForce 8-series cards. |

At least with the Xbox 360 you get the Red Ring of Death to inform you that things have gone south in a major way, with an iPod, you get no indication. Your iPod just won’t turn on, so you try charging it, still won’t work. |

Microsoft hit us up with a statement today regarding its Xbox 360 HD DVD player in light of the format’s current woes. The company seems to think the news won’t have “any material impact on the Xbox 360 platform or our position in the marketplace.” |
|
Microsoft goes on to reiterate its line about the largest next-gen games library and its belief that “it is games that sell consoles.”
For those of you hoping for some sort of Blu-ray attachment for the 360 — or a sense of purpose for that increasingly obsolete HD DVD player currently hooked up to your 360 — Microsoft does say that “we will wait until we hear from Toshiba before announcing any specific plans around the Xbox 360 HD DVD player,” which seems to imply there’s something to announce once HD DVD finally kicks the bucket, but at this point the prospect of a Blu-ray add-on still seems rather optimistic. |

For an otherwise-generic PDA, the iPaq 210 has already led a controversy-filled life filled with numerous delays, canceled pre-orders, retracted and clarified official statements from HP, and even a website bug that constantly promised shipment in two weeks — but now it’s finally here, and according to the crew at Brighthand, all that bake time seems to have paid off. |
|
The 210’s 4-inch VGA-res screen drew high praise, of course, but what really set the 210 apart was the wealth of connectivity options — with both CF and SDHC slots, the 210 can store up to 64GB of data, and transfer it over Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.0, and USB 2.0. The only issues seem to be a touchscreen that requires a firmer touch than usual and that high $450 MSRP — but if you’re among the few still in the market for a standalone PDA, the 210 is probably worth checking out.

Make no mistake, we’ve seen curious job postings lead to changes in our favorite gizmos before, and hopefully, a recent ad on Microsoft’s website is no different. |

A listing seeking a Program Manager explicitly states that it’s looking for someone to “be involved in the next release of Xbox,” and wants that very individual to be “part of the Xbox Live team that’s responsible for creating a completely new way for mainstream audiences to enjoy the Xbox and Live.”
Better still, the description suggests that the team would be “building the games, the console interface and logic, and the server support for a totally new Live experience.” Granted, there’s nothing more to go on than this at the moment, but we can’t help but be a teensy bit excited about the notion of an overhauled Xbox Live. To say that sales of the Wii have been good would be an understatement. It’s been a little over a year since the console was launched, and still it is difficult to even find one on store shelves. Sure, part of that is due to a limited supply, which also makes one wonder what sales would be like if there was no shortage. Knowing this, it’s no surprise that sales have finally passed those of its predecessor, the GameCube. |

Last week’s Rock Band DLC pack certainly wasn’t my favorite. I’ve got no hard feelings against Harmonix for their choice in music, as everyone has different tastes. Thankfully this week appears to be more promising for me, as it features 3 tracks straight out of the 90’s which I remember quite well. Hit the jump for the track listing. |

I’m not a ThinkPad fanboy, but my experience with ThinkPad has been amazing. The X300 excites me and I’m planning to get one for myself. One lucky dude in LA was able to get a unit for himself. Like a true techie, rather than just using the laptop and brag about it, he went ahead and shares to the world on what’s underneath the X300. |

Look at the glory that is the Sprint Ace, really it’s just a BlackJack that looks a little different and uses CDMA and EVDO instead of whatever AT&T uses. Sure, I know, it looks a little different too, and that kind of makes since, they have managed to fit all the same features in a slightly smaller package with a slightly larger screen (2.3 inches compared to the BlackJack’s 2.25). |

When you’re playing a game like Guitar Hero, one of the most important features is the sound. If the audio sucks coming out, it will interfere with your gameplay, as it is centered solely around making music. Well when Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock came out for the Wii, people noticed that it only played sound in mono, which really sucks. Finally Activision has setup a replacement program so that you can get a new disc that has stereo sound. |
