Marumi LED-8 LED Macro Ring Light

Saturday, April 5th, 2008 | Other with No Comments »

Snapping macro shots using a compact point-and-shoot digital camera is quite tricky, as you will rarely get an image that is pleasing to the eye due to the effects of having the flash go off, or a blurred image should you decide to turn off the flash.

Marumi’s LED-8 LED Macro Ring Light is here to help you get that perfect macro image, where eight white LEDs will circle the cameras lens to provide more than enough light whenever you’re snapping an image for your eBay auction. Powered by three AAA batteries, each $126 purchase comes with a tripod mount for steady shooting and features two levels of intensity.

iShield Mirror For Narcissists

Saturday, April 5th, 2008 | Other with No Comments »

So you feel extremely smug that you have an iPhone while the rest of your (small) circle of friends doesn’t, and couple that with your personality of screaming like a headless chicken each time you discover a new zit on your face, and we have a narcissist in the making.

The iShield Mirror sounds like the perfect protective iPhone case for you then, featuring a two-piece hard plastic case complete with a thin layer or mirrored film which has been pre-applied to its face. This enables you to view your mug any time you like without interfering with your view of whatever is displayed on the screen. Fortunately, this $30 iPhone case not only covered the screen with hard plastic, but you will be able to continue with all your touch-based gestures without opening it up as well.

ARTDio MS-780 iPod Speaker Dock

Saturday, April 5th, 2008 | Apple with No Comments »

Another day, another iPod speaker dock. Today, we have the ARTDio MS-780 from Taiwan that was specially designed to cater for the latest 3G, 2G iPod nano and 2G iPod Shuffle. Of course, iPods aren’t the only portable media players that will work with the MS-780 as it is compatible with other audio sources using a 3.5mm stereo input connection.

Don’t get your expectations up too high where sound quality is concerned, as the 2 watts per channel speaker system isn’t much to shoud about. The ARTDio MS-780 can be powered via USB, batteries or an AC adapter, making it highly adaptable. It has been tagged with a $30 price tag and will be available in five different colors.

Here’s a snapshot of the Samsung Alias that will replace Verizon’s u740, bringing an improved keyboard layout, a 1.3 megapixel camera (bah!), touch music controls and an overall improved feature set. This looks like a clamshell handset that can open up both ways - horizontally and vertically, just like Nokia’s N93i. This will be much cheaper though, retailing for $130.

JVC HA-SX500 Headphones

Saturday, April 5th, 2008 | Other with No Comments »

JVC’s new HA-SX500 headphones is meant to be easy to carry, thanks to its fold-up form factor that features Bi-Metal in-ear canal headphones for convenient listening no matter where you are.

The Bi-Metal structure claims to improve audio performance across the frequency range, storing the drive unit in a steel base that is wrapped in a high specific gravity brass ring which eliminates vibration and energy loss, vastly reducing friction noise for superior audio. I’m not sure whether my ears are that sensitive to pick up the benefits of the HA-SX500, which is why I rely on high bitrate MP3s as a first line of defense. Each $7.999 purchase comes with an iPhone-compatible plug.

Asus MS-71 Wireless Mouse

Saturday, April 5th, 2008 | Other with No Comments »

Asus seems to have taken the crown for the smallest wireless mouse in the world with the MS-71. It offers a resolution of 800 dpi and has a working range of up to 30 meters, which is far enough for just about any presentation you’re going to d

o. Whenever the MS-71 is left idle, it will automatically revert to a power saving mode to further help save an additional 75% of power. There is no word on how much it costs, but each purchase will come with a case of RSI after prolonged use.

Jabra BT4040 Has Display

Saturday, April 5th, 2008 | Other with No Comments »

The Jabra BT4040 has been making its fair share of rounds across news sites for quite some time already, and for very good reason. It features a minimal LCD display that does away with the guessing game where you try to figure out just how many blinks of the LED means what.

In addition to this much easier-to-understand format, the BT4040 weighs a mere 10 grams, where you will hardly feel it on your ear while a Digital Signal Processor helps to improve voice calls, be it incoming or outgoing. There is no word on pricing or availability yet.

A Third of iPhone Owners have a Second Phone

Saturday, April 5th, 2008 | Apple, Cell-phones with No Comments »

From what we can tell in the Silicon Valley, a good chunk of these dual-users are around here. I do see a lot of people with an iPhone (to show off) and a Blackberry (to get stuff done) and it is not surprising: despite what iPhone fans are saying, the virtual keyboard of the iPhone simply underperforms, and guess what, it does not get any better overtime.

Another Peek At Everex Cloudbook Max

Saturday, April 5th, 2008 | Other with No Comments »

Now here’s a new peek at the Everex Cloudbook Max to whet your appetite before the real deal is unleashed upon us. VIA did mention in their press release that there is a lead time of approximately one year, which could be way too long as by the time it is released, the other hardware specifications might be considered too slow for the standards then.

After all, it would be a shame to hold back the Cloudbook Max’s release just because of WiMAX users. Some people predict that this little gizmo will cook up a storm if released in Europe and Asia with an HSDPA module inside - what do you think?
