Could Palm revive the Foleo as another Eee rival?

Friday, April 25th, 2008 | Laptops with No Comments »

When Palm sent out invitations for users to trial an “innovative new product” earlier on this week, the criteria that participants must be heavy smartphone and email users, have a WiFi router and an account with Sprint led many to presume that it referred to the Treo 800w.

That handset - long in the making, and believed to be hitting Sprint in July - is expected to have the usual full thumbboard as well as WiFi, EV-DO Rev.A and Windows Mobile 6, and it seems reasonable that Palm would be beta testing it around now. However, just as we were all about to file the rumor away, another possibility was suggested: could Palm be reviving the Foleo?

Thursday, April 24th, 2008 | Laptops with No Comments »

Little known from the general public, 3K computers has an ultra-light, cheap notebook: the 3K Longitude 400. it is small and resemble the Eee PC. The 3K Longitude 400 is weaker than the Asus Eee in computing power. At this point, I don’t see any reason to get a Longitude 400. It is too little, too late.

  • 400 Mhz CPU
  • 512MB RAM
  • 4GB of storage

US-based computing company Averatec have announced two new semi-ruggedized notebooks, promising greater resilience to the knocks and scraps a working laptop often suffers.

The 2133 is still being hyped up and I am sure that a lot of future owners of the machine will be happy to know that your two options aren’t the unfamiliar Linux and the likely slow-booting Vista; you’ll now be able to get Windows XP installed. Atom-powered Eee PC to Hit UK

Friday, April 18th, 2008 | Laptops, Other with No Comments »

Guess folks in the UK will be able to receive an Intel Atom-powered Eee PC by the end of this June, if word from TechRadar is correct.

In fact, Asus’ representative dropped a very strong hint that this new Atom release will occur right after Computex, and with the use of the Atom processor one ought to (in theory, at least) see a significant power saving which translates into superior battery life. News like this makes it all the harder for folks who want to purchase an Eee PC now, as they know that across the horizon lies something better, if only they wait for a few more months.
